In January 2017, Directive 97/68/EC referring to air pollution reduction was repealed and replaced by Regulation (EU) No. 2016/1628, establishing emission limits for gaseous and particulate pollutants (known as Stage V) for non-road mobile machinery engines. This regulation affects products marketed from January 1st, 2019. However, it covers a “transition” period, in which equipment assembled with engines manufactured in 2018 can be sold (ie. not Stage V approved).
The Stage V legislation represents a big change to the engines used in non-road mobile application.
Stage V engines will be technologically more advanced products and due to their specific features, will be more sophisticated and thus, more expensive.
Visa is already developing generating sets with STAGE V engines, incorporating design and innovation features to make them suitable and competitive in the European rental market.
Meantime, thanks to the engine stock purchase plan Visa set in 2018, it can continue to provide STAGE IIIA engines that fully comply to the EU regulations allowing these engines to be used until June 2020.
Due to this, you can count on generating sets equipped with Stage IIIA engines during the entire transition period* (*while stock lasts).

Orders need to be placed no later than March 2020 to be able to respect the regulation’s date of entry into force.
Furthermore, there are also a few new gensets assembled with stage IIIA engines that are currently available in stock for prompt delivery. Contact our VISA sales team for further information.
