A brand-new documentary by Automoto.it takes viewers behind the scenes of the “Kurzras–Grawand” cable car in Val Senales (BZ), Italy, one of the most iconic and historic Alpine installations, recently relaunched through a major technological upgrade.
As part of this ambitious project, Visa SpA contributed its expertise by supplying its generating sets that guarantee uninterrupted operation. These systems ensure power continuity for safety and evacuation equipment, support scheduled maintenance and allow the cable car to operate reliably in any condition.
Originally inaugurated in 1975, the cable car connects Maso Corto (Kurzras) to the Hotel Grawand, located at 3,212 meters – the highest hotel in Europe, it now features cutting-edge Cabrio cabins, offering passengers a breathtaking open-air ride among the peaks. The complete modernization carried out in 2023 by Doppelmayr Italia has brought the installation up to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and comfort, while preserving its symbolic value.
Developed in collaboration with Funivie Ghiacciai Val Senales S.p.A. and Funitek, the documentary explores the history, evolution, and technological complexity of this extraordinary Alpine achievement. Starting at minute 32, Visa presents its essential role in powering the installation with advanced solutions.
