Visa energy reliability for the port sector

In port infrastructure, the continuity of the electrical power supply is an essential element in ensuring the proper preservation of perishable goods and the smooth execution of logistics operations. Cold storage units used for the temporary storage of food, pharmaceutical and chemical products require reliable emergency power systems capable of maintaining the cold chain even in the event of power outages or grid instability.
To meet this requirement, Visa supplied 4 high-power gensets designed to operate in parallel mode, specifically intended for the emergency power supply of cold storage facilities in port environments. The solution was developed with the specific operational requirements of the sector in mind, which is characterized by high electrical loads, continuous operation and stringent safety and quality standards.
The installation of the generating sets ensures high reliability and essential energy redundancy to prevent potentially harmful temperature fluctuations, thereby reducing the risk of goods deterioration and protecting the economic value of the goods.
At the same time, the system helps keep refrigeration systems operational even in critical situations, ensuring business continuity at the port and the regular flow of logistics operations.
CASE HISTORY
| Project: | Assure the cold chain in the port area |
| Location: | Portof Trieste - Italy |
| Installed power: | 4 MW (P.R.P.) |
| Gensets supplied: | 4 units model BD 1000GXP in special version - P.R.P. continuous power kVA 1000 - E.P. Stand-by power kVA 1100 |
Purpose
The project is designed to provide a high level of electrical reliability in emergency situations, ensuring the continuity of the cold chain to preserve the quality of the goods, prevent significant economic losses and guarantee full compliance with safety standards and current regulations.
Technical specifications
All 4 units are equipped with Baudouin engine model 12M26G1100/5, complete with engine preheater coupled with Stamford alternator model S6L1D-EE, with automatic control panel in parallel mode, in soundproofed Galaxy Plus version.
Control panel
The 4 gensets are provided with the Onis Visa InSync 500 by ComAp, automatic control unit for parallel operation.
Remote monitoring via GSM
The units are fitted with the WebsupervisorPlus remote monitoring system via a GSM connection, allowing the customer to monitor the main parameters and alarms in real time, identify any anomalies and schedule timely interventions when necessary, including the possibility of remotely starting or stopping the system.
Visa technical service department is constantly connected to the system remotely to ensure immediate assistance to the machines whenever required.
Version
All units are supplied in the Galaxy Plus version on GV 300 base frame. They are equipped with a special integrated 2.400-liter onboard fuel tank, complete with collection basin to prevent possible fluid spills from the machine, as well as a leak detection float sensor.
Additional features:
- The air intakes are distributed and sized to optimize cooling airflow under all climatic conditions. The absence of air intake openings on the base frame ensures reduced penetration of dust and humidity.
- A dedicated space for manual fuel refilling is integrated into the canopy complete with key lock.
- A special exhaust silencer is positioned in the radiator compartment to leave space at the outlet for the installation of additional noise reduction kits.
- Full accessibility for maintenance and inspection is ensured on all sides of the machine.
Conclusion
The presence of the Visa gensets not only guarantees the protection of goods through emergency energy support but also strengthens the operational capacity of the port infrastructure, ensuring high levels of operational reliability even in emergency scenarios or in the event of grid instability.
